I've known Mayte for many years now. In fact, she was my very first client and I've had the honor documenting parts of her life ever since. I still remember our first session pretty well. Her daughter was just a little baby. A couple years after our first session, we had scheduled a maternity shoot to celebrate her second child. This time tho, things dint go as planned. Several weeks before the day of the session, Mayte gave me the news that she had lost her baby. I could not even began to imagine the pain her family was going through.

She decided to move forward with the session, making a few meaningful changes to honor the baby she lost. It was an incredibly emotional shoot and not an easy one to edit. Going through those photos was a powerful reminder not to take anything for granted and to always be thankful for what we have.

Several years later, Mayte reached out again with the joyful news that she was expecting. I was so happy for her and her family, and truly honored to capture this maternity session for her. After her baby was born, we had another session to document the sweet bonding moments between big sister and little brother.

Mayte’s story has been one of my favorites to capture. Her story is a reminder that life brings both heartbreak and joy, and that even through the hardest moments, there is always hope, love, and new beginnings.
